In 1926, Alan Alexander Milne created the first collection of Winnie the Pooh stories. Since then, the writer’s work has been translated into several languages and sold millions of copies. Milne wrote the book for his son Christopher and made one of his stuffed animals (a teddy bear named Winnie) the main character in the novel.
Pooh has become so popular that he has lived to see several films and three animated series. The most famous bear in the world also has his own festival, ever since International Winnie the Pooh Day was created on January 18th.
Some of the main character’s quotes are timeless and still inspire many people around the world. Take a minute to read the most interesting ones from the original book and realize that Winnie wasn’t a bear with little intelligence.
“Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
