Make a home air freshener yourself. It’s non-toxic and it costs little to make!

We love it when our homes smell fresh and crisp. We often buy a variety of air fresheners available in stores and drugstores, but seldom do we wonder what we really breathe when spraying scents in the air.

It turns out that this is the same stuff that’s seriously detrimental to health. The products available in drugstores have harmful substances, among others, phthalates, acetone, limonene, chloromethane, toluene or benzene. Some have strong allergenic effects, others irritate the respiratory system and contribute to the formation of tumors.

If you want your home to have a divine smell, you don’t have to buy expensive and harmful air fresheners. You can easily make your own, which will be completely non-toxic.

Here’s what you need:

  • a jar or box of cream
  • baking soda
  • your favorite essential oils
  • decorative paper or a piece of material
  • ribbon or string
