Sphynx cats were created by accidental genetic mutation. In 1966, in Canada a hairless cat was born. The breeders found it interesting and decided to create a new breed. The animals are special and not everyone likes them.
The lack of fur might be unpleasant for some people. But they are very friendly, they like playing and they feel like suede. You can see folds of skin on the cats. The more folds the more expensive the cat is. Usually they have almost no fur.
Some of the cats happen to have some fine hair on noses, ears and tails. Most of the cats don’t even have whiskers. Some people find the cats the ugliest creatures in the world while other ones admire them. Joanne Dyck from Alberta, Canada, is a great fan of Sphynx cats. In November, she bought another one, but the animal turned out to be something else. You will find out more about how she was cheated on the next pages.
