The image of the baby on the Gerber products is one of the most recognizable symbols of all time. It first appeared on the jar in 1931 and has since generated all sorts of rumors about who is the small model.
It was believed that this was the face of Elizabeth Taylor or Jane Seymour.
Nobody, however, had these suspicions confirmed. In 2012, when a contest was held for the new face of the brand, the “Today” talkshow invited the previous winner. It turned that it is Ann Turner Cook. The woman talked about how it happened that she won the competition organized by Gerber.
When she was only eight months old, a family friend, Dorothy Hope Smith, sketched the image. A year later, it was sent to a drawing competition organized by the child food manufacturer. Unexpectedly enough, it won, and in 1927, Ann’s tiny smiling face was sold.
Today, Ann Turner Cook is 90 years. Go to the next page to see how she looks like.
