Traditions of hunting go generations back, but nowadays you don’t have to shoot animals to get meat to eat, especially when so many species are endangered.
Hunting is a hobby practiced by many individuals. Its followers don’t see anything wrong in hunting for animals, boasting about their trophies, especially if the specimen they killed is rare. Hunters will pay a lot to hunt various animals, and in many cases they are aware that the species is endangered and, yet, they still shoot.
Opponents of hunting point out that this is regular brutality and aggression directed at animals that are deprived of an environment to live in. People sound the alarm when word gets out that someone is hunting for animals that are in danger of extinction. These populations get mixed around every day because of poachers, hunters, environmental degradation and pollution in the area where they live.
The controversy is especially triggered by the hunting of elephants, which are very intelligent animals that often die at the hands of poachers who want their tusks. These animals are killed by human greed. And they are not the only ones who pay for people’s superstitions and beliefs. On top of this, ranches are created where you can hunt rare species, of course, for a fee.
Theunis Both and a group of his friends made use of these services for hunters. They went to Tzaneen to have a good time while hunting for elephants. He didn’t come out of it in one piece, though.
