These huge dogs were used to hunt for bears
As a dog lover I was likely to think that I’ve already seen all kinds of dogs. But I was clearly mistaken. When you meet the Caucasian Shepard, then you’ll fall in love with this breed.
Caucasian Shepards were bred in Russia around the Caucasus for hunting bears. At first they were bred in isolation, but later they were used as guard dogs to protect the Berlin wall.
They’re naturally suspicious towards strangers, which makes them perfect guard dogs.
I believe it’s Caucasian “Shepherd”
the photos are arranged to make the dogs look bigger than they really are lol. The one of the guard dog, shows the actual size more. They are beautiful!
WTF!
Pic 1 page 3 looks like dog fight practice to me
there are videos of these chewing up Pitbulls…
Tell you what, they look awfully cuddly when not attacking . How do I get one?
my understand is these dogs can be vicious so dog fighting breeders are cross breeding them now with pit bulls in the Charleston area to make a more lethal dog. really not good. There are no breeding laws.
No – but you can do some good by reporting those who fight dogs.
How wicked to train dogs to hunt other animals – what had the bears done?
How Stupid you are not to understand the diversity of another culture and criticize it.
I think that the Leonberger is a larger dog….Hard to tell with the dense coat
These dogs play a prominent role in Brad Thor’s Scott Harvath thrillers as the guardian pets of a global “secrets merchant”…barely measuring 3′ tall, he is known as The Troll. They do seem to be “all that!” !!
