Today’s youth are reluctant to perform household chores. Kids get upset and think that they’re entitled to everything.
They don’t clean around, help their parents, and they’re not interested in anyone or anything. They only want to take, offering nothing in return. They demand new clothes, makeup or electronics without thinking about where their parents will get all of this money. If they get what they want, they become ungrateful and are unable to be thankful for gifts in any way.
This isn’t a matter of getting them to cover some of the costs, of course, but rather about basic recognition. You can thank someone in many ways. Washing the dishes, babysitting your younger brother or cleaning the garage will certainly make your parents happy and they’ll look at you favorably. Unfortunately, some teens can’t even be bothered to do that.
One night, this son entered his mother’s bedroom and handed her a piece of paper. It was a bill for what he had done in the last three days. He carefully listed the chores he had to do and demanded payment for them.
What was his mother’s reply? More about this on the next page.
