Breeding and selling dogs is a quite profitable business, which is why many irresponsible people are trying to make money that way. Unfortunately, people who do it for profit, not for the love and passion for animals, often hurt dogs. On the sidewalk of one of the UK roads, an abandoned 6-week puppy and his mother were found.
The dogs were in bad condition: the adult pup was neglected and lacked a part of her rear paw, whereas the puppy had a strange condition that the rescuers could not explain clearly. The animals went to the local branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). The dog Mom was named Peggy, and the puppy – Pip.
At the resort, the pets received proper care. At first, they had various tests made and found out that the puppy couldn’t see. Veterinarians thought that it was a result of an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid after an injury, but the MRI indicated that the dog was missing half of his brain! Unfortunately, it quickly became clear to the RSPCA what could be the cause of this congenital defect.
The puppy looks quite normal, only his eyes are concerning.
A spokesman for the company, Amy De-Keyzer said that the cause of the underdevelopment of this internal organ could be the incorrect breeding of his parents as animals of the same recessive features shouldn’t breed together. In the case of Pip, the objective was probably getting a merle-colored animal hair. For this, two dogs with such hair were paired together.
The dog mom and the cub were lucky that they came under the care of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
