Although it’s rarely talked about, it’s obvious that doctors also get sick and die.
However, they know a lot more about medical treatments and dying than the average person on the street. And although they vow to serve life and human health, in order to help the sick, they themselves often forgo resuscitation and medical care in the face of death.
The term “futile treatment” is known especially by health professionals who work in intensive care or the emergency room. They are well aware that in the case of an incurable disease or a fatal diagnosis, resuscitation or intensive care virtually never bring about the desired result. However, there is a good chance that they will cause the sick person suffering.
Of course, doctors don’t want to die. But they are aware that everyone deserves a dignified death.
