Apparently, everything happens for a reason, and what is seemingly a great misfortune, sometimes is not. Perhaps it is fate (luck), which at first we do not appreciate and treat as something bad, which we shouldn’t do. The following Chinese story is about happiness and unhappiness.
It tells the story of an old peasant and his horse, which lived on his farm for several years.
One day the farmer took the animal to the field. When his eyes wandered away from the horse for a moment, it fled to the distant hills. The farmer’s neighbor, who cultivated the land located right next door, saw the whole situation. He was very surprised to see that the man was not running after him. He didn’t even see him express anger or sadness. He stood and watched as the animal disappeared from sight. He went to the peasant and expressed sympathy for this great calamity. The farmer replied:
Luck? Misfortune? Who knows?
